concept [18 Dec 2008|04:00pm]
most people don't know what's out there waiting for them, lurking in the shadows, the corners they never look in, or on the dusty back roads they pass by every day without thinking. there's an evil greater than some guy who hates his job and shoots up a bank or even your garden variety serial killer - it's the kind of evil people tell stories about around campfires and in schoolyards. it's part of a bigger world around us which most willfully blind themselves from seeing. books tucked away among dusty shelves in small shops supply us with some idea of what's out there, but there are few who know the truth. they've reached into the flesh and blood, the dirt, filth and grimy scum that this evil is made of and become a part of its world. they've come to understand it and even live with it... you may not recognize them or their work, but they're out there. they call themselves hunters and they've dedicated their lives to these things that you and i would rather pretend are only the figments of an overactive imagination. hunters are the trackers and dispatchers of spirits, undead and unnatural - they're feared by demons, shapeshifters, and boogeymen of all shapes and sizes.

being a hunter is not an easy job by any means. a hunter must ensure that, that which he (or she) is hunting is truly evil. although most hunters are forced to rely on their gut instinct, they'd prefer to make decisions that save lives rather than put them in danger and thus they turn to the roadhouse. when a hunter needs a fresh perspective on something, they can find it several miles southwest of the town of lebanon in kansas. the roadhouse is situated on the northeast corner of a crossroads, smack dab in the middle of the continental united states, and it's been serving as a meeting grounds for hunters since early 1908. many hunters have come to consider the roadhouse home over the years, and many of its current patrons have actually grown up inside of its walls. to the outsider, the roadhouse may look to be nothing more than a wretched hive of scum and villainy that's occupied by drunks, but that's just the way the hunters prefer it because the dirty visage keeps out those who stumble across the roadhouse by accident and invites in those who seek it out.

rules [18 Dec 2008|12:00pm]
the rules here are pretty simple. you should already know not to start crossing lines, but we're going to go ahead and say that you shouldn't do it anyway. now that, that's out of the way-- yes, this game is based loosely off of the show supernatural, but everyone's still pretty human. no one's going to suddenly pull a sam winchester and bust out a couple of superpowers. this also means we're only accepting humans. we're not accepting vampires, werewolves, or anything similar. when you're getting ready to apply, please make sure that your journal is in name format: johnsmith, smitty, johnny, etc. try to avoid underscores, numbers, and excess at all costs. you may also want to be aware that, yes, we are looking at the aesthetics of things. why? because we feel it's important to some degree. we're not going to waste your time by pretending that it's not. if you're accepted, we'll be expecting to see an update or extended participation in a thread (that means more than three replies) from you once every three weeks in order to be considered as an active member of the community. we'd also like to see you commenting around whenever you have a chance since aim isn't a requirement and it's not something that we'll be keeping an eye on. sounds easy enough, right? believe us, it is. there's just one last thing we have to add. while we may be ever-dedicated mods, this is not our job. we're not getting paid to run this community. that said, we'll run it however we see fit. if you're a dick to us, we reserve the right to be a dick right back. then again, who doesn't? if you don't like the way we're handling something, this is us kindly asking you to find another community to join. we can't and won't bend or break our backs just to suit one person when we have a whole community to think about.

holds [18 Dec 2008|11:00am]
ready to place a hold? they only last for 72 hours, but you can request an extension and we'll give you an extra 24 hours. at the moment, we're only accepting characters who either work at the roadhouse or have a connection to another character in the community. be sure to check corsned to see what storylines people need filled.
